Knoxvillian Geri Graves is a breast cancer survivor. She decided to share her story with Everything West to give hope to other women who may be battling breast cancer. “It can get so overwhelming and it can seem unending. There were some days when I felt like I wasn’t going to make it through, but now I can look back and know that it’s behind me,” said Graves...
October is one of my favorite months. The weather is cooler and the
colors are so beautiful. It is so much easier to do work out in the
yard when the temperature is in the 70s and not the 90s! Speaking
of work, there are lots of things that you can be doing now. Yes, some
of these things were on the list for last month, but it was still hot
last month and I KNOW some of you didn’t do them...
What a gorgeous couple of weeks we are
having! I can't remember the last time we had a series of days in the 80's in
August. Usually it is scorching this time of year, so those of us who make our

no one had ever heard of Hardin
Valley...
Loudon, TN is experiencing a rebirth as this
small town both embraces its past and moves on to its future. One of the keys to this is the Courthouse
Grant they recently received from the state.
Six of Tennessee's
county seats with smaller populations were selected to be part of this new
program with Loudon and Dayton
the two in East Tennessee. The program returns sales tax collected
within the downtown square for eight consecutive years. Loudon has received their first payment and
borrowed against the others to immediately begin transforming the community. In
the next few months, visitors and residents alike will be pleased at the
differences they find in the area surrounding Loudon's beautiful courthouse and
in nearby blocks...
In the early years of our country, children were usually
educated at home.
The wealthy would bring in tutors and
less affluent parents would teach children themselves. Boys were taught many subjects as befitting
their future roles in life - to work the land or be apprenticed to learn a
skill - but girls were taught just the basics then taught skills which prepared
them for their roles as wife and mother...
